After being awarded one of my company’s biggest tenders, I had mixed emotions. What was supposed to be an exciting time for my business turned out to be the most stressful. On the one hand I was excited at the opportunity, yet nervous about how I was going to fulfill my obligations under the tender. Working capital is a major challenge for any small business and a lack thereof can result in failure to deliver on projects which can lead to reputational damage and ultimately business failure. Mosegedi is currently implementing two projects in the Chris Hani District of the Department of Human Settlements with a total of 2269 units and funded by Tender Capital. The Tender Capital funding has assisted us to deliver to the client beyond contracted output. Our business has become very stable in that we are able to pay our suppliers in time and be able to manage the rate at which material is delivered to sites. Strong relationships have been built and cultivated with the key stakeholders, Client, Material Suppliers and SubContractors on our sites because we are able to plan knowing that the cash is available to implement on our promises. The funding has entrenched our position in the market. Even in instances where the client expriences delays in cash flow, we have been able to keep production moving at the right pace. We find Tender Capital sytems and people very professional and sound. Beyond availability of funding, the relationship has assisted us to professionalise our processes, it is has proved to be very helpful to have to involve an independent party who objectively seeks to authorise our business transaction in line with pre-agreed business rules.
